Project XP-Canis is a series of experimental quadruped robots. Through the use of cutting-edge technology, students work to push the boundaries of their hardware and discover the limitations of current technology
Starting with its development in late 2020, XP-1 Canis was our first foray into quadrupedal robotics. While it was never completed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many of the lessons gained from this version of Canis were carried forwards as it also helped with launching our organization forwards as an engineering team.
Based on the open-source "Spot Micro" project, Canis Minor finished its initial development in the summer of 2022, with ongoing testing expected to last into 2023. Its primary purpose is to serve as a test mule for software and experimental equipment being considered for Canis Major.
