Our Story
AC Robotics started around 2010 as a Scouts team called "Geeks n Nerds" under Calgary's 18th ANAFVO Scouts Group. It consisted of students with an interest in competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC).
Not long later the students who made up "Geeks n Nerds" began to attend the University of Calgary and in 2013 registered the group with the Students Union under the name "Technology Engineering and Science Leadership Activities" or TESLA for short. The team would go on to act as the local FIRST Alumni group, and they would even run their own FRC team very briefly from 2017-2018.
At the start of 2020, TESLA was on the edge of collapse due to the global pandemic. It was around this time, we rebranded to AC Robotics and started to rebuild ourselves. AC Robotics now hosts several different teams with robots covering land, air, and water. All of our projects work towards boosting tech talent and create a proving ground for students to push the limits of their skills and knowledge.
